Nintendo DS Lite Handheld Console (White)

When it comes to portable gaming devices, Nintendo's GameBoy once dominated the market. Today, the major players are the Nintendo DS and Sony's PSP (PlayStation Portable). Each is a fantastic portable device capable designed for video games on the go but which one is the best?

Oooh, a loaded question and we have the answer - the best one is the one that's right for you. How's that for ambiguous? Seriously, if you buy the portable gaming device that's completely wrong for you, no matter how cool it is you'll be unhappy. Do your research and decide exactly what you want before you go shopping.

Both the PSP and the Nintendo DS offer exciting video games. The DS is unique in that it has two screens and touch sensitivity. This makes playing games a different experience whereas the PSP tries to replicate the home video console. Wireless functionality is built-in to both players allowing for multiple units to connect with each other wirelessly.

PSP Slim and Lite (Black)

The PSP has huge storage capacities with 1.8 gigabytes of data storage versus the Nintendo DS's 128 megabytes of capacity. This means more complex graphics and games for the PSP. The PSP also can play movies and music and in essence is a portable media center. For example, you can download movies and music and enjoy them on the go with the PSP.

The Nintendo DS features a microphone and a touch sensitive screen along with hundreds of exciting titles - including backwards compatibility with GameBoy Advance games. It has gained widespread appeal across generations for its unique line of games including NintenDogs and Brain Age. While not as flashy as the PSP, it offers a different gaming experience.

You'll pay quite a bit more for PSP than for the Nintendo DS which is fine if you want the added capabilities such as playing portable movies and music. But if you already have a portable video player and MP3 player, you might be happier with the Nintendo DS.
