Transformers has been a popular HD DVD choice Consumers are taking full advantage of the extra web-features available on HD DVDs, according to one expert.

Ken Graffeo, executive vice president of HD strategic marketing for Universal Studios Home Entertainment, said this week that many people liked the web-enabled extras that were coming with the discs and that he believes there is much more to come.

Mr Graffeo, who is also the co-president of the HD DVD Promotional Group, said: "We've only scratched the surface in offering web-connected experiences to fans of hit movies and TV shows, so it was great to see so many connecting online for these titles."

He added that further investment in the format by some of the major studios would ensure that the features would grow and that anyone with a web connection and a HD DVD player can join the fun.

"As more titles from the HD DVD studios include access to downloads, trailers and community pages, the owner of any HD DVD player can take advantage of these web-connected experiences."

Two of the titles that have proved especially popular recently are Transformers from Paramount and Heroes: Season One from Universal; both have a number of interactive online features.
