The HD-EP10: New HD DVD player launched by Toshiba Following on from the success of the HD-E1 and the HD-EX1, Toshiba has announced that it is to release a third HD-DVD player.

The HD-EP10 features full 1080p playback, supports HD audio formats including Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True HD and DTS HD, and has a recommended retail price of less than £400, Hdtvorg.co.uk reports.

Olivier Van Wynendaele, deputy general manager, HD DVD, Toshiba, said: "Toshiba's HD-E1 and HD-XE1 set benchmarks in high definition home entertainment, both in terms of performance and value for money and the HD-EP10 raises the bar yet again.

"We want consumers to experience the highest HD resolution currently available at a price that's right for the market - and that's exactly what the HD-EP10 achieves."

Toshiba certainly seems to know a thing or two about producing top-notch HD DVD players. Recent figures from the European HD DVD Group show that the HD-E1 high definition DVD player is the best-selling standalone high-def DVD player in Europe.

The figures show that during the five month period from January to May this year, sales of the HD-E1 took an average 74 per cent share of the market.
