Romantic options for home cinema enthusiasts

Patrick Swayze stars in the UKs favourite weepie Home cinema enthusiasts hoping for a romantic night in this Valentine's Day have been advised the top ten movies in a new survey.

The survey, put together by RIAS, found that Ghost was the nation's favourite love film followed by Pretty Woman, Titanic, Love Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral.

In sixth place was the 1965 musical The Sound of Music followed by Gone with the Wind, Casablanca and Doctor Zhivago, with Richard Gere favourite An Officer and a Gentleman taking the tenth position.

Commenting on the survey, RIAS managing director Janet Connor said that the range of films that made the survey were an "eclectic mix" and covered a broad range periods in Hollywood's history.

"It is great to see that even after nearly 70 years some of the all time classics are still competing with modern-day classics for the affections of the nation," she said.

Ghost first appeared in 1990 and starred Patrick Swayze as a man who was murdered and returned to right the circumstances of his death by contacting his lover from beyond the grave.
