A Blu-ray camcorder?
20 Jul 2007 14:56Do you like the quality of high-definition material? Do you also like making your own movies (nothing funny now!)?
If so, you could well be interested to hear that Hitachi is planning to release a series of brand new camcorders that can record up to an hour of Blu-ray material.
Excited? We thought you would be.
The Wooo range of camcorders will feature products with an eight centimetre Blu-ray Disc drive which, at roughly the same size as that found in normal DVD camcorders, means that the camcorders shouldn't be too bulky.
They will also have a 7GB capacity and 5.3 Megapixel CMOS sensor. Moreover, the camcorders will feature a rather funky image-processing chip that will allow them to handle 2.07 million pixels. Which, you have to admit, is an awful lot of pixels.
At present, there are no recordable Blu-ray discs available on the market, but Hitachi Maxell Ltd is in the process of developing an eight centimetre recordable Blu-ray Disc, which would go nicely with the Wooo camcorders as they will be capable of recording at full 1,920 x 1,080 resolution.
It is thought that the camcorders could be made available for the consumer market by the end of this year.
