Batman comes to Blu-ray

The movie was a popular choice for HD DVD viewers Ahead of this summer's much-anticipated sequel, Warner Bros has given a new high definition (HD) lease of life to its movie Batman Begins, it has emerged.

According to Super Hero Hype, the film enjoyed huge success in its HD DVD format and the distributor has now announced it will relaunch the movie with three special editions - one week before the cinema release of the film's sequel The Dark Knight.

There will be both a single and double-disc Blu-ray edition of the film available, as well as a standard definition (SD) DVD re-release - the HD discs will also feature the first six minutes of The Dark Knight.

Gift sets will be available in both HD and SD versions and will contain items such as exclusive photos and story boards - as well as a 128MB Batman branded flash drive in the two-disc SD gift set.

Earlier this year, Heath Ledger - who plays the role of The Joker in the upcoming Batman Begins sequel - was found dead in his Manhattan apartment. He was 28 years old and left behind a two-year-old daughter.
