21 Nov 2007 15:00

Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy in a scene from the film Romantic comedy Becoming Jane is to be released on Blu-ray disc next year, Buena Vista Home Entertainment has announced.

The hit film, starring Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy, will hit the shops on February 12th, 2008 - just in time for any loved-up folks to purchase it for Valentine's Day!

It will come with a host of special features, including deleted scenes, an audio commentary, a pop-up quiz and the featurette Discovering the Real Jane Austin.

The standard DVD version will come out on the same day, but as of yet no specs have been confirmed.

Becoming Jane is loosely based on the life of respected author Jane Austen (Hathaway), who aspired to be a writer in the 18th century when such a profession was not considered respectable for a young woman.

However, in the film we see her fall in love with Tom Lefroy, played by McAvoy, who inspires her to put ink to paper and produce many of her best-known and well-loved works.

Austen's novels include Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Emma and Northanger Abbey.

It is thought that Becoming Jane will have a recommended retail price of $34.99 (£17.99).
