Absolutely splendid news, mangotangoers! One of the most important films from the sci-fi genre is making its way onto HD.Blade Runner originally came out on the big screen in 1982 and to celebrate the 25th anniversary of this pivotal cinematic release director Ridley Scott has returned to post-production and created a brand-spanking new version.
Starring a fresh-from-Star Wars Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard, Blade Runner: The Final Cut will be released by Warner Brothers in the UK on Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD on December 3rd - just in time for your Christmas shopping!
The movie has been re-mastered and restored and scanned at 4K resolution. This exciting release features new and improved special effects, never-before-seen extended scenes, a new 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track and a director and filmmaker audio commentary.
With a recommended retail price of £24.99, the two-disc special edition also includes commentaries and the documentary Dangerous Days: Making Blade Runner.
Currently, no plans are afoot to release a five-disc version containing the original and alternate cuts of the film.
