Blu-ray players from Denon

25 Jul 2007 14:04

Two new Blu-ray Disc players from Denon Despite initially being dismissive of Blu-ray technology, electronics firm Denon has announced that it is to release two Blu-ray Disc players later this year.

The DVD-3800BDCI BD-ROM and the DVD-2500BTC BD-ROM players will be the first Blu-ray Disc players produced by a member Blu-ray Disc Association to feature the 10-bit Silicon Optix Realta chipset.

Sound like gobbledygook? Fear not. All this means, according to Denon anyway, is that the players will provide the highest resolution high-definition video available today via HDMI connection, along with audio decoding and DDSC-HD audio output, Pocket-lint.co.uk reports.

Both of the players will be capable of supporting various audio technologies, including Advanced AL24 processing, and will each have an SD card reader.

The DVD-3800BDCI will be capable of outputting both 7.1-channel analog signals and PCM audio via HDMI output, and will offer HD audio with decoding of Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, and DTS-HD Master Audio.

In October last year, a spokesperson from Denon told the technology site that second-gen technology was no better than standard DVD technology.

We wonder why the firm has changed its mind?!
