Bravia range adopts new projector

The new project or is expected to be popular Sony has unveiled the latest addition to its popular Bravia range with a brand new high definition (HD) projector.

The manufacturer has this week launched the VPL-VW40, which it claims offers full 1080p HD and creates the best possible cinematic experience by utilising Sony's Silicon X-tal Reflective Display (SXRD) technology.

It is suggested that SXRD, which was originally intended for use in traditional cinema projection systems, will use super-fine micro-architecture and a 2.5ms response time to offer a smoother response and more precise colour resolution.

Commenting on the unit, Sony Europe's product manager for projectors Nicola Plump said that the extra features would mean the VPL-VW40 will be an ideal choice for the discerning home cinema fan.

"It offers features typically only available on far more expensive projectors, principally Full HD and SXRD … There's nothing else offering so much at this price, which is why we expect this projector to be a very popular product," she said.

Sony's Bravia technology is more typically associated with the company's popular range of high performance LCD TVs.
