Choosing Blu-ray is a "no-brainer"

More films on Blu-ray Making your mind up (no, not the Bucks Fizz song) can be considerably difficult, particularly if you are trying to decide between two seemingly similar things.

However, some decisions can be made extremely easily. Tartan video, for instance, had no trouble choosing Blu-ray over HD DVD, claiming the decision was a "no-brainer", Pocket-lint.co.uk reports.

The home video firm has announced plans to release three classic titles on Blu-ray Disc, which it says makes senses because of the quality of the DVDs and because the majority of movie studios are supporting the Sony-backed second-generation format.

Hamish McAlpine, owner of Tartan Video, said: "To go with Blu-ray was a no-brainer for Tartan. Not only is the format superior to HD DVD, but also the fact that seven out of eight studios have chosen to release their films on Blu-ray means that this so-called 'format war' is over before it has really begun."

The three films, a 50th anniversary edition The Seventh Seal, World War II epic Black Book and cult revenge thriller Oldboy, will each be a worldwide Blu-ray premiere when they are released.

In addition, each Blu-ray Disc will be packaged with a standard DVD version of the film. They will be priced at £29.99.
