LG drops price of Blu-ray player

14 Aug 2007 11:55

LG lower the price of BH-100 Super Blu-ray player Competitiveness can be a beastly business. Things can get pretty ugly between warring sides, especially if there is some sort of lucrative prize involved.

In the world of technology there will always be groups of gadgetry wizards vying for your attention, trying to woo you into buying one of their fabulous products. And, if we're honest, that makes shopping all the more exciting - considering that competition usually results in lower prices!

Take LG Electronics, for instance. According to Twice magazine, a spokesperson for the company has confirmed that its BH-100 Super Blu player will be reduced in price to $999 (£500).

This, it seems, is because Samsung is set to release a dual-format HD disc player which will undoubtedly be eagerly spied by savvy shoppers. Initially the BD-UP5000 Duo HD player was going to have a recommended retail price of $1,199 but that has since been dropped to $1,049.

Nonetheless, as TV Predictions notes it will still be cheaper to buy a Blu-ray Disc player and an HD DVD player separately than to buy Samsung's duel model. Unless of course the firm decides to lower the price again!
