Mini Blu-ray Disc for Hitachi's new Blu-ray camcorders the DZ-BD7H and the DZ-BD70 Blimey - it's Friday already, it's really warm, and it's sunny. What a marvellous start to the weekend, dear readers!

And as if the glorious weather wasn't enough to put a great big smile on all your lovely faces, we've got some super news for you too. Knowing how interested you all are in Blu-ray (who wouldn't be?!), we couldn't resist telling you that there are now mini Blu-ray Discs available - yes, mini ones!

These little recordable/rewritable discs have been produced by Verbatim, and are intended for use in the recently announced Blu-ray camcorders - the DZ-BD7H and the DZ-BD70 - from Hitachi.

Each disc is just three inches in diameter and can store 7.5GB of data, which equates to one hour of continuous play on a single side, and two hours in total. What's more, the images will be super clear, as they are recorded at 1440×1080i.

According to a statement released by the firm: "The new Mini BD discs deliver the highest read/write performance and unsurpassed longevity. Advanced technologies developed by MKM guard against deterioration in picture and sound quality - even with repeated recording and playback.

"By combining MKM's proprietary recording layers and hard coat with its precision stamper and precision moulding technologies during the manufacturing process, Verbatim BD media customers can be confident they have the best media on the market for their special memories and that they'll be able to enjoy them for years to come."
