Sharp, one of the world's biggest consumer electronics manufacturers, has announced a new Blu-ray recorder with a whopping 1TB of memory.

It will be released in Japan in December, along with a smaller 500GB sibling, the BD HDW15.

The new unit builds on Sharp's other high-definition offerings, which include the BD HP1 Blu-ray player, which has a host of outputs.
