The VAIO FZ-Series notebook by Sony Do you ever spent time surfing the net, reading high quality technology news on your favourite online retailer site, and think to yourself, 'my coumpter just isn't what it used to be'.

Chances are you're thinking that very thing as you read this article. If that's the case, you may want to sit up and take note of the new notebook recently launched by Sony.

The VAIO FZ-Series notebook has an "exceptional screen", an LCD which is capable of achieving 90 per cent levels of black. Moreover, it's nice and compact and can be carried around easily despite its large size 15.4 inch display.

What's more, it comes complete with HD functionality and a Blu-ray drive capable not only of playing discs, but recording them too.

Jun Koyama, marketing director for VAIO of Europe (VOE), said: "A key part of the notebook's appeal [is that] it's like a 15.4-inch display on a 14.1-inch form factor. You get a nice surprise when you open it up and see the size of the screen, not to mention the quality.

"And let's not forget this is a portable capable of playing and editing full HD content with ease. There's a great deal of power in a fairly small space."
