22 Nov 2007 11:40

Panasonic thinks its new Blu-ray player will go well with an HDTV Panasonic has announced the launch of its latest Blu-ray disc player, the DMP-BD30.

The BD30 will officially hit the shops in the North American market on Friday, November 30th (no date yet for a UK release) and will be the first such player to feature Final Standard Profile 1.1.

Confused? Don't fret, mangotangoers, this is a good thing. It means that you will be able to enjoy cool interactive functions such as picture-in-picture (PIP) and audio mixing when watching compliant content.

It will also come with an SD Memory Card slot, which will let you watch all your favourite HD content as well as video recorded on a high-def camcorder.

Gene Kelsey, vice president of Panasonic's Entertainment Group, commented: "With the growing consumer awareness of high definition and the approaching 2009 digital transition, we are projecting a marked increase in interest in high definition TV this holiday season.

"In order to fully appreciate the high definition entertainment experience, the consumer needs a 1080p playback device to show HD content. Blu-ray disc players are the perfect complement to an HDTV."

The DMP-BD30 will have a recommended retail price of $499.95 (£250).
