Next month, Pioneer is set to launch its new Blu-ray Disc computer drive, the BDC-2202, which will be available to consumers for a recommended retail price of just £150.

When installed into a suitably configured PC, the Pioneer Blu-ray Disc combination drive lets users playback new HD Blu-ray Discs as well as read and write digital content to DVDs and CDs.

It also comes with software compatible with Blu-ray titles, and it allows you to make DVD films of your own and picture slideshows. Feel free to make your appreciative noises now.

Andy Parsons, senior vice president at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc, said: "With the BDC-2202, computer savvy consumers are now privy to what was previously only available to professional users.

"In addition to maintaining the same benefits of current optical disc drives, the included software means users can now enjoy their favourite Blu-ray Disc movies as well as their own personal disc creations."
