Electronics giant Samsung has reportedly announced that it is to launch it's eagerly anticipated dual-format high-definition disc player in December - just in time for Christmas.According to various media reports, the player will hit the shops towards the middle or the end of the festive month and will cost more than $1,000 (£500).
The BD-UP5000 will be capable of playing both Blu-ray and HD DVD discs and it has been suggested that it will be compliant with new Blu-ray hardware requirements which, mangotangoers, means that it will offer the very latest technologies such as picture-in-picture interactivity.
The Chronicles of Narnia will be among the first Blu-ray titles to offer the enhanced features and it is expected that these discs will be released in 2008.
It is thought that those folk who own a swish high-def TV who are unsure which of the warring formats to go for will eagerly snap up one of the players as a way to side step their indecision.
