Sat navs increasingly popular

UK rely on Satellite Navigation More and more of us seem to be relying on technology to complete day-to-day activities. Which is hardly surprising given how useful all those fab gadgets and gizmos can be!

It even appears that a substantial number of folk in Britain are relying on electronic wizardry to get them from A to B.

According to a new survey, 2.5 million motorists (eight per cent) use a satellite navigation system to direct them, rather than relying on a road map.

And it would appear that this number is set to rise - given that around 11 million motorists (35 per cent) cannot read a map at all!

The study, conducted by esure.com, also found that a third of those drivers questioned had difficulty reading a four-figure grid reference while 83 per cent could not identify the
'motorway' map symbol.

It was also revealed that one in six (16 per cent) of drivers in the UK haven't got a map in their car and 63 per cent have only got out of date maps.

Perhaps it's all well and good then that 21 million motorists (63 per cent) said that they totally rely on their sat navs!
