Sony says Blu-ray is right for PGR4

Sony Support Blu-ray In light of recent comments from the developer of a soon-to-be released computer game, Sony has stated that Blu-ray is well worth investing in.

Bizarre Creations, the developer of Project Gotham Racing 4, has suggested that it had difficulty fitting all the necessary data for the game onto a single DVD for the PS3. As such, Sony bigwigs have said that its decision to back the second-gen format for its console will certainly be worthwhile.

Sony Computer Entertainment America spokesman Dave Karraker, told GamesIndustry.biz: "We took a lot of heat at launch for including Blu-ray in PS3. Now it looks like that investment is being justified.

"Next generation games simply need more space on the disc to contain all that high definition content.

"Take a look at Lair, for example, already pushing 25GB of content, and that is a first-generation title. At 50GB storage capacity, Blu-ray gives the PS3 plenty of headroom for developers to fully realise their visions well into the future."

It is thought that PGR4 is due to be released in September this year.
