Sunshine to be first PIP-enabled DVD

02 Nov 2007 12:06

The Sunshine Blu-ray Disc will reportedly have lots of great features It's only been a couple of days since we brought you news of a new Blu-ray Disc player from Panasonic that will be the first to have a Final Standard Profile. Now, we can happily tell you that there could soon be a smashing title to go with it.

According to High-Def Digest, Fox Home Entertainment is planning to release the movie Sunshine as a Profile 1.1 Blu-ray title.

This, in case you're unsure, means that if you watch it using the aforementioned player, or any other complaint machine, you will be able to enjoy features such as picture-in-picture commentary and surround-sound mixing.

However, Fox has reportedly said that the disc itself will be compatible with all Blu-ray players.

It is thought that the sci-fi thriller, which will be the studio's first 1.1 title, will hit the shops sometime early next year. Other PIP (Picture-in-Picture)-enabled DVDs should be announced soon.

In related news, Fox recently announced that Die Hard 4.0 will be released on Blu-ray on November 20th and will come with an electronic copy that can be played on your PC and select video players.
