Bravia W 'gets the best from Blu-ray'
06 Dec 2007 14:34According to the HDTV News website, the Bravia W range makes full use of 1920 x 1080 display panels that offer the only kind of resolution that does full justice to Blu-ray technology.
It is reported that with such a panel home cinema fans are able to make the most of the dynamic picture performance and 2 million plus pixels available from Blu-ray discs.
The site then goes on to praise the processing power that Sony has awarded the range.
"While it's great to state that a TV is capable of creating billions of colors it's a whole lot better when you have a display that can actually display them. That's the logic behind Sony's 10-bit processor and 10-bit display," the review states.
It is this processing power, the website claims, that allows the Bravia W range to provide "64 times the levels of color expression than an 8-bit panel".
The review then goes on to note that the W series of Bravia LCD TVs is a marked improvement on the company's earlier V series due to features such as the Advanced Contrast Enhancer function and improved contrast ratios.
