Chinese LCD TV production up by 65%

The production of LCD TVs in China has increased Getting to grips with modern technology, what with all this wonderful new fangled gadgetry, can sometimes prove to be a stumbling block when choosing a new television.

According to new data, the output of those uber attractive LCD TVs in China has increased by 65 per cent in the first half of 2007 when compared to the same period last year.

Figures from the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry (MII) show that a staggering 6.34 million sets were produced from January to June this year, Xinhua news agency reports.

And what's more, the competition seems to be wavering. Plasma output in the country dropped by 28 per cent to 235,000 in the same period, while the production of rear projection TVs has fallen by 90 per cent to 47,000.

"The LCD TV has gained a bigger market share over the past two years. More and more people choose LCD TVs due to the price cut," an official from the MII said.
