Consumers advised on LCD TV shopping
17 Mar 2008 16:52There are a number of things to bear in mind when shopping for a high definition LCD TV panel, according to a new article for the Fresh News website.
The site reports that finding the right panel to suit your needs is more of an "art" than an activity and suggests a number of things to be on the look out for to avoid purchasing an out-of-date model.
It is noted that large or small, LCD TVs can be flawed and that each model differs in the way these flaws present themselves, adding that a low contrast ratio, slow refresh rate and narrow viewing angle are key complaints.
Reputable brand names such as Panasonic, LG, Sony, Samsung, Philips and Sharp are highlighted as areas to consider although it is noted that these may not always be the right choice.
"The best LCD HDTV need not necessarily be from among the big brand names, since most of these big companies buy their components from small companies which will thus have a direct bearing on the quality of the TV," the site states.
According to recent research from the Office of National Statistics, more people are opting to by a flat screen TV rather than repair their older cathode ray models.
