Downloadable games for Wii?

Playing games on a seventh-generation console is generally considered to be pretty good fun, and it seems that those who own the ever-popular Nintendo Wii could be in for an extra special treat for their gaming pleasure.Because according to reports in the media, Nintendo will reveal details of a series of downloadable games for the Wii later on today (Wednesday). Which, we're sure you'll agree, dear mangotango reader, is a pretty exciting prospect!
Newsweek's games blog Level Up has reported that Nintendo will be releasing WiiWare - downloadable games from both well-known and independent developers which will only be checked for compatibility and bugs.
Nintendo will also be determining the price of the games, although publishers will be responsible for obtaining age ratings. It is thought that they will be specifically designed for the Wii, and will be made available from the Wii Shop Channel.
If rumours prove to be true, then expect to be able to get your hands on the first WiiWare games in 2008.
