First HDTV fridge launched by LG

09 May 2007 11:03

LG unveils HDTV fridge Don't you just love it when you go into the kitchen in the morning, open the fridge to grab the milk for that cup of 'shake your brain awake' tea or coffee, close the fridge and settle down and watch a bit of telly before you dash off out the front door?

Thought so. But wouldn't it be great if you had a little bit more time to get ready before you leave the house? What if the TV was built into said fridge, meaning less movement around the kitchen and saving you valuable seconds? Well, that dream has just been realised, because the techies at LG have come up with the first fridge with a built in high definition TV.

Unveiled at the 2007 Kitchen & Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas, the HDTV Refrigerator can reportedly deliver terrestrial and cable channels, while at the same time keeping all your scrummy food and drink nice and chilled.

John Herrington, president of LG Electronics USA, commented: "LG is taking this innovation one step further with the introduction of our HDTV Refrigerator by incorporating additional features that further enhance the user experience, from LG's industry-leading digital TV tuner to the Weather & Info Center for weather forecasts, uploadable photo album and recipe bank."

The HDTV Fridge contains a 15-inch LCD screen and digital TV tuner and is priced at a cool (yes, terrible pun intended) £2,051.
