HD TVs 'improving all the time'

07 Feb 2008 17:09

picture quality continues to get better with HD TVs The image quality available through a HD TV is continuing to improve and costs have fallen considerably in recent years, a new survey has found.

Research by Consumer Reports magazine found that all types of HD TV screen are improving in quality.

In a test of some 101 screens, the magazine recommended a variety of models including ones from Samsung, Sharp and Sony, E-gear reports.

It also found that 13 plasma screens, as well as ten LCD sets offered "excellent" picture quality.

Now could be a good time to buy the sets too, the magazine suggests, because although prices have fallen in recent years, they are now beginning to level-out, so consumers can be safe in the knowledge that the model they buy will not go down in price after they buy.

Further to this, the energy consumption of such sets was examined, E-gear reports. Findings suggested that power usage was not significantly different from the power used by traditional TVs.

The makers of Panasonic flat screens earlier this week announced plans to reduce the energy usage of their models.
