28 Sep 2007 15:06

High-Definition more popular than ever Here at mangotango, we strive to bring you all the latest news from the world of technology. Not that we think you are all completely in the dark about such things, but it's always nice to have a friendly heads up about what's what just in case isn't it?!

Ok great, so just in case you haven't heard - high-definition is where it's at folks. That's right, if you haven't purchased a swish high-def telly yet, now is the time to do so, because more and more people are coming to realise that these sets offer the topermost of the popermost in terms of your viewing pleasure.

According to a report from Sony Australia, published in conjunction with GfK, sales of HD items in the country during the period from April to June this year increased by a whopping 99 per cent when compared to the same period in 2006.

And what's more, sales of HD products now account for more than 71 per cent of the total market, Current.com.au reports. Looks like a lot of people are catching on to this trend, and fast!

Managing director Carl Rose said: "More than ever, consumers are demanding the best viewing experience possible, reflected in the fact that 93 per cent of all LCDs sold in Q2 2007 were high definition models.

"In fact, TVs are driving the sales of HD products, making up 89.1 per cent of HD sales. Importantly, full HD sales (1080+) have increased at an even faster rate, up 62.2 per cent on the previous quarter which proves Australia is rapidly becoming a high definition nation."
