HDTVs top gift-lists for Christmas

Three out of every four American consumers (76 per cent) have at least one digital lifestyle product on their Christmas wish-list, with High Definition TV sets being the most popular.That is the result of a national survey of 1,2000 Americans by Solution Research Group, which revealed that HD TV boxes from cable or satellite companies would be popular this year, as well as Apple's iPhone, and laptops.
Games consoles such as the Nintendo Wii, Sony PS3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 were also considered as hot items this Christmas.
Approximately 37 per cent of men were hoping that Santa would bring them a flat screen HDTV, the study found, compared to 33 per cent of women.
Laptops, digital cameras, GPS navigation systems for cars and mobile phones were also popular among both sexes.
According to a study from DisplaySearch, reported in Twice Magazine, 1080p HDTVs will begin to outsell older 720p and 1080i models over the next year, boosting sales of related 1080p products such as Blu-ray and HD DVDs.
