LCD vs Plasma: 'the differences are narrowing'

In an interview for kvue.com, Harlan Lawson of A&B TV states that there are a number of issues that separate the two home entertainment options and one of these is what the panel is going to be used for.He said that LCD monitors often give a sharper and finer picture resolution, are more manoeuvrable and are not as susceptible to glare - making them an ideal choice if the unit is to be placed by a window.
However, it was noted that plasma TV's have traditionally offered a better picture on the larger models and that although they are prone to screen burn this is not as much of a concern as it has been in the past.
"Burning is probably the biggest worry on a plasma panel. It's not as bad as it use to be, but it can still happen," he said.
In a recent review for Cnet.com, senior editor David Katzmaier listed his five favourite high-definition units, among which were two LCD TVs and two plasma models. The fifth unit listed was a 52-inch rear-projection model from Panasonic.
