LG launches 'red couch' HDTV campaign

24 May 2007 12:15

LG to promote its latest range of High-definition TVs As Mick Jagger and David Bowie once sang, summer's here and the time is right, for buying a new TV.

Ok, they didn't quite sing it like that, but they might do if they ever decide to disembark from music and launch themselves into the world of advertising. But until they do, companies will have to rely on other promotional methods - like sofas!

No, we're not joking. LG Electronics is using a campaign entitled Red Couch in a bid to boost the popularity of its high-definition televisions across Europe and the campaign centres on the slogan "Don't watch it, live it!"

The digital display company's adverts feature a rather comfortable looking red sofa in front of an LG HDTV, and according to Young Chan Kim, LG's executive vice president, "the Red Couch symbolises the shared excitement of experiencing LG's full HD TVs".

"We want people to associate these enjoyable moments, shared by families and friends and enhanced by LG's more vibrant, life-like HD quality, with LG and our signature red. This is about creating an emotional attachment to our industry-leading products," she added.

The Red Couch campaign coincides with the launch of LG's new series of HDTVs, with a variety of screen sizes ranging from 37 inches to 60 inches.
