LG's smallest plasma TV for Chinese market
23 May 2007 13:45
Have you ever noticed that the current trend with TV technology is to make screens bigger and bigger? Well, don't fret if you haven't, because you're definitely not the only one, as LG has announced that it is to produce its smallest plasma screen yet, specifically for the Chinese TV market.
The 32-inch plasma display panels (PDPs) will be made for a range of as yet unspecified TV makers in the country, as of next month. Production volume and the price of the screens is currently undecided, Reuters news agency reports.
However, the company did affirm that these new small screens will be cheaper than similarly sized liquid crystal display (LCD) screens.
Speaking on Monday (May 21st), a spokesperson for the company said: "We will begin the mass production from June, at our module plant in Nanjing. China's 30-inch grade TV market is set to grow quickly ahead of next year's Beijing Olympics."
