New 108-inch comes to the market

Movie fans could be blown away by the size of the panel It has emerged that Sharp is set to release a new LCD television that clocks in at 108 inches.

Reuters reports today that the manufacturer has expressed its desire to have the screen available to the general public later on in the year although it has not yet been confirmed when it will be available to UK home cinema fans.

The National Ledger also reports that Sharp made the announcement at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas and that the screen would also feature high definition (HD) and the ability to display digital photos.

It is reported that the TV's resolution will be four times the level of 1080p picture quality associated with HD and that the company was planning a 65-inch LCD TV that was only one inch thick.

However, Panasonic also made an announcement at the CES that it would be entering the race to produce the world's largest flat screen television with a 150-inch plasma screen.
