New Panasonic screens offer 'tripled contrast ratio'

The manufacturer builds on its range Panasonic is to Launch 12 new LCD and plasma TVs that will triple the contrast ratios of their predecessors, it has emerged.

According to the Tech On website, the new plasma screens will be equipped with a contrast ratio of 30,000:1 and their LCD siblings will raise the high definition standard to 10,000:1.

The site adds that the colour gamut will also receive an improvement of 130 per cent and that 18-bit processing will also be incorporated into the panels.

Panasonic is thought to have readied the screens for launch before the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and according to Shiro Nishiguchi, director of corporate marketing for the company, are expected to sell as well as screens in other Olympic years.

This week also saw the Trusted Reviews website draw attention to Panasonic's anticipated TX-32LZD80 model which is the first of its size to offer a full HD pixel count.
