New Pioneer tops sibling

05 Mar 2008 17:12

Pioneer adds to its 50-inch range Pioneer's latest 50-inch LX508D comes equipped with an extra level of quality that put it way ahead of the 508XD, according to a new review.

The Trusted Reviews website reports this week that the manufacturer's LX508D plasma TV may have a similar title to its predecessor but by contrast offers a full high definition (HD) pixel count.

It is noted that although the "superb" 508XD was HD ready, the addition of full quality pixilation puts the newer model "in a whole other world technologically".

However, at £1,300 more than the 508XD it is noted that the LX model "is seriously expensive by today's 50-inch TV standards" and should be avoided unless the consumer is insistant on having the best 50-inch on the market.

Last year, HDTV Test reported that the LX508D was only "a few notches up" from the cheaper screen.

It has also been reported this week that despite being highly regarded in the sector, Pioneer will no longer produce its own plasma screens and will instead procure them from Matsushita.
