The manufacturer's new model has hidden talents A new LCD TV from Sanyo may not be the most stylish in the world but when it comes to high definition (HD support it delivers the goods, according to a new review.

In an article for the New Zealand Herald, Peter Griffin looks at the Japanese manufacturer's 47XR2 model and concludes that although "appearances can be deceptive" the screen has enough to challenge a number of rivals.

Although it is noted that the "bland" exterior of the panel is unlikely to impress, the unit's full 1080p HD and 1000:1 contrast ratio make it a good accompaniment for gaming and Blu-ray or HD DVD playback.

"All three hi-def sources look great on the Sanyo, with only slight pixilation in the games at 1080p and minimal visual noise on the video playback," the review states.

Earlier this month, Sanyo began shipping what it claims is the world's shortest throw distance LCD Projector.
