New Toshiba range targets the upgrade market

The manufacturer is bouncing back Toshiba is set to release a new range of high definition (HD) LCD TVs that target the entry-level market and consumers looking to upgrade their old cathode ray tube screens.

According to Register Hardware, the Japanese manufacturer's Regza CV range will be available in 32, 37 and 42-inch models and include a number of extra features - packaged with a modest price tag.

It is reported that Toshiba has said that the series will give consumers "style, performance and great value" as well as offer a pixel resolution of 1366 x 768 and a contrast ratio of between 15,000:1 and 30,000:1.

Also included is the manufacturer's Active Vision LCD Picture Processing, built-in Freeview digital tuner, audio description technology and three HDMI sockets.

It is thought that Toshiba will also release a "step-up" range, under the name Regza XV, that will offer much the same as the CV but come equipped with full 1080p HD and a contrast ratio between 18,000:1 and 30,000:1.
