108 inch LCD TV by sharp Well, the people at Sharp certainly seem to be busy little bees don't they? First of all we hear that they are to launch a new series of super-slim LCD TVs - the Aquos range - and now we've found out that they have got something even bigger up their sleeves.

The company is set to unveil what it believes is the future of LCD televisions at this year's edition of the IFA exhibition in Berlin later this month and according to Sharp the future is large.

Among its full HD line-up will be a 108-inch LCD TV - the largest in the world - which highlights Sharp's belief that the current trend for larger screens is not going to fade and that, if anything, it is set to escalate.

Mike Gabriel, head of marketing and communications for Sharp UK commented: "By 2015, we predict that the average size of an LCD TV in a European home will be 60 inches.

"We are already seeing a trend towards bigger screen sizes in the trade and we expect this trend to continue into the mainstream market: people are expecting more size for their money.

"This is why Sharp is looking at a strategy involving LCD screen sizes of 42-inches and above."

In addition, the firm will be showcasing its new BD-HP20S Aquos Blu-ray player.
