Nintendo predicts record sales of Wii

Do you think that sounds like a lot? Well, before you scoff at the idea, you should note that Sony has sold 38.2 million of its PlayStation 2 consoles, not forgetting of course that there are a lot of people out there who are pretty keen on computers.
The Wii was launched in the US in November last year, and since then Nintendo has sold a whopping 2.5 million units, Bloomberg news agency reports.
Etsuko Tamura, an analyst with Mizuho Investors Securities in Tokyo, said: "The 35 million target is a bit too optimistic for now as it seems the Wii is targeting light gamers, but the US market has a lot of hard-core game players.
"It's too early to decide whether the Wii will be the winner among game consoles."
Nintendo announced on Monday (May 21st) that it plans to introduce 14 new games for the Wii in the autumn of this year, including Mario Strikers Charged and Boogie, a game which allows players to sing and dance to music videos.
