'Over 1bn colour shades' with ZF series LCD TVs

08 Feb 2008 18:05

More colour shades with the new Toshiba television series Toshiba's new ZF series of televisions display more than one billion shades of colour in total, according to a new report.

Highlighting the benefits of the new technology, online price comparison site Idealo.co.uk suggests the "supreme" machines can display 98 per cent of the human eye's spectrum, which according to the manufacturer, is 13 per cent more than standard tvs.

This focus on colour is apparently achieved because the machines support "the forward looking colour standard xvYCC".

Another feature of the series - which includes the 46ZF355D, 40ZF355D and 52ZF355D models - is the "picture frame" design, which helps leave more room for the LCD panel.

Indeed, the portal also emphasises how this provides more room than same-sized standard models.

Perhaps the ZF series was created bearing in mind Toshiba's stated aim of developing "original concepts and expertise".
