PS3 to have 380 games by 2008

Gamers, try and control yourselves, we've got some pretty interesting news. Following rumours that the Play Station 3 may be in for a price cut, Sony has revealed that it plans to have a catalogue of more than 200 - yes, you read that correctly, 200 - games for the console by the start of spring next year. And what's more, the firm will also make 180 games available for download.
Sony's chief executive officer Howard Stringer made the announcement today (Thursday) at the company's annual shareholder meeting in Tokyo, in what appears to be a bid to increase sales in the wake of the success of rival Nintendo's Wii console, Bloomberg reports.
"We are increasing the number of games this year and proceeding with reduction of hardware costs [to return the business to profit]. PlayStation 3 is important for Sony's future and we intend to make it a success,'' he said.
And according to Reuters news agency, he added: "Attractive game software is the key to accelerate PS3 growth over the next year."
There are currently 60 titles and 50 downloadable games available for the PS3. The new range will include titles based on the Harry Potter and Transformers films.
