Panasonic Viera 'dominates all around it'

20 Dec 2007 18:34

The Panasonic Viera is an imposing piece of kit Panasonic's latest 58in widescreen plasma TV has received a rave reception from technology reviewers.

The Panasonic Viera TH-58PZ700 model may be smaller than its predecessor, the 103in behemoth TH-103PF9, but trustedreviews.com nonetheless gave it an overall nine out of ten rating.

Bucking the trend by offering 58 or 65in models - rather that the industry standard 60in screens - Panasonic has managed to cram some impressive technology into the glossy, slick machine.

Boasting a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 it is ideally suited to high-definition TV viewing, while the unit's contrast ratio of 10,000:1 puts it on a par with many top-of-the-range LCD screens.

Unlike LCD TV's, however, the TH-58PZ700 has none of the problems associated with darkened-out pixels and grey blurring in low-light scenes.

Connectivity-wise the machine also fares well, with the unit sporting three HDMI 1.3 ports - two at the back and one at the front - as well as a host of component audio and video inputs.
