Panasonic branching out

10 Aug 2007 13:00

Panasonic first LDC TV We love it when things adjust. A change is as good as a rest and all that! So imagine our delight (and yours too when you read this next bit) when we heard that Panasonic is to start making LCD TVs as well as Plasma sets.

The Japanese firm announced yesterday (Thursday) that it will launch its first LCD telly on September 1st, after deciding that it will be taking "a flexible stance in its TV business".

Initially, the 37-inch high-def LCD TV will only be on sale in Japan and will retail at around $2,500 (£1,250). Panasonic, which until now has only produced Plasma sets, will also be introducing a 42-inch and a 65-inch plasma model.

The 37LZ75 has 1,920×1,080 resolution, an SD memory card slot so you can display digital photos, two HDMI ports and an RGB monitor port should users wish to hook their telly up to their PC.

Expect Panasonic's first LDC TV to hit the shops in Europe later this year.
