Panasonic launches 42-inch Plasma

New Plasma high-definition television Called the TH-42PZ700U from Panasonic As another weekend rolls into sight, its time to kick back, relax, and ponder all the wonderful new additions to the television market.

One for you to consider is from the technical whizzes at Panasonic, who have produced a 42-inch 1080p Plasma high-definition TV, which will join the firm's range of HDTVs alongside the 50-, 58- and 65-inch models, as well as the huge 103-inch model.

Called the TH-42PZ700U, this telly is the first of its kind to make its way onto the market. It will be made available at the beginning of July this year and has a recommended retail price of $2499.95 (£1,300).

It has a native resolution of 1920x1080, two HDMI inputs and an SD card slot, which means that users will be able to upload their digital photographs and view them on the screen.

Commenting on the 42-inch TV, Dennis Eppel, vice president of Panasonic Display Company, said: "This year's buzz word with consumers looking for flat panel HDTVs is most definitely 1080p.

"We listened to our consumers and they want choices when it comes to 1080p. The arrival of our 42-inch 1080p model gives consumers what they want; the widest range of 1080p screen sizes combined with the undeniable power of Panasonic Plasma."
