Philips launches Ambilight LCD TVs in Britain
17 Sep 2007 09:50Philips' cutting-edge flat-screen TV technology has been launched onto the UK market.
The high-definition (HD) 1080p 9632D and 9732D series of liquid crystal display or LCD contains the new Perfect Pixel HD Engine.
Screen sizes are available from the average 32-inch to the massive 52-inch, with 100Hz clear LCD, colour booster with 14-bit processing and HD-Natural Motion at 6.2 million pixels resolution, 8000:1 contrast ratio, four trillion colours and the fastest response time of any LCD TV, according to the manufacturer.
The Perfect Pixel HD Engine uses full ten-bit digital processing that can handle up to 248 million pixels per second - the most advanced video-signal processing system available, described as being able to change individual pixel luminosity to produce a sharper and more natural image.
They include Philips' Ambilight system, which uses LED lighting technology in a choice of two-sided or three-sided Ambilight Surround, depending on the model.
A 32-inch panel can be bought for an affordable £1,000 while other models, released later this month, will retail between £1,499 and £2,999, just in time for Christmas.
