Pioneer Kuro range 'offer astonishing blacks'

18 Mar 2008 17:29

Blacks look better on the Kuro range The Pioneer Kuro range have built on their name by offering some of the best black levels available in the LCD TV market, according to one expert.

In an article for UltimateAVmag.com, Scott Wilkinson writes that the Kuro series - named with the Japanese word for black - offer "astonishing" levels of depth in this area across all of its available models - in particular the high performance Elite panels.

Mr Wilkinson adds that although the regular Kuro range perform to the highest standard, extra features such as the Home Media Gallery on the Elite models make them "far and away the best plasmas on planet" - in particular the 50-inch PRO-110FD.

"Its colours are gorgeous, its detail is exquisite and its blacks are to die for. It's difficult to compare this set to others in the market, none of which can touch it for sheer picture quality," he states.

However, in terms of price it is also noted that the PDP-110FD is not cheap but that for those who can afford the extra cash "there really is no other choice".

In October 2007, Geoffrey Morrison of Home Theatre Magazine called the screen the "greatest flat panel ever".
