04 Jan 2008 17:09

More people are enjoying the delights of HD LCD screens Sales of LCD TVs grew significantly in the third quarter (Q3) of 2007, a new report suggests.

According to gulfnews.com, a number of manufacturers saw increased sales in Q3 with the number of LCD TVs shipped to Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) reaching 7.3 million during the period - an increase of 18.3 per cent on the previous quarter.

The rise shows that more consumers are making the change to flat panel televisions and that more people are taking advantage of high definition technology.

Samsung recorded the biggest share of the market for the period with sales of around 1.97 million and Philips followed behind with 1.27 million panels shipped. Sony, LG and Sharp were also highlighted as performing well in the EMEA region.

Riddhi Patel, principal analyst for television systems at iSuppli, said: "Samsung Electronics held on to its top position in the EMEA market for [consecutive quarters] due to [the] robust demand for LCD TVs."

Last month Trusted Reviews said that the latest 63-inch plasma from Samsung offered superb sound and compatibility as well as a stunning visual display.
