Take the Sony PlayStation 3 console for instance. Since Sony made the decision to cut the price of this particular console in the US, to $499 (£250), sales have increased by 50 per cent.
The firm revealed the impact of the price cut yesterday (Wednesday) at it's E3 press conference, adding that it is on course to hit its target of shipping 11 million PS3s by the end of the year.
During the conference, Sony America boss Jack Tretton said: "Since Monday, sales of the 60GB PS3 have doubled at our top five retailers."
The price cut of $100 (£50) was effective as of Monday (July 9th) in North America. The PS3 went on sale in the US last November, and a total of 1,400,000 units have been sold in the country since then.
In the UK, the PS3 is currently priced at £399.99 but there has been no word yet if the price will be reduced.
