Samsung LCD TV offers improved backlight

03 Dec 2007 17:34

Samsung's new model "revolutionary" Samsung's latest 52-inch LCD TV has tackled the problems associated with backlighting by using LED technology, according to a new review.

The Korean manufacturer's LE52F96BD has been highlighted by trustedreviews.co.uk as one of the most "revolutionary" TVs currently available due to its use of an LED backlight to heighten levels of contrast.

"Instead it lights its pixels using an array of LED backlights, all individually controllable … the advantages of this approach are immediately clear," the review states.

It was noted that Samsung's ever expanding range of flat screen TVs means that many people could see the new model as just another release, but that this would be "a mighty shame" as the unit offers deeper black levels and superior contrast that give it "jaw-dropping" quality.

Reviewing the same model last month, tech.co.uk echoed the comments stating that buyers would be advised to wear "a guard on your chin to protect it when it hits the floor".
