Sharp announces greener screen initiative

15 Feb 2008 13:35

Sharp will make 'greener' LCD panels Sharp has unveiled plans to make its range of LCD TVs more ecologically focussed by way of improving production processes.

According to cclonline.com, the Japanese electronics manufacturer has announced that it will consider the way it buys parts as well as manufactures and delivers screens in a bid to improve its green credentials.

Commenting on the announcement, Sharp's managing director for the UK Paul Molyneux said that the company was keen to take a "leading role" in addressing concerns over climate change.

"Sharp has already reduced CO2 emissions at its factories by integrating all the processes of manufacturing LCD TVs to significantly reduce impact on the environment," he said.

Previously the manufacturer has expressed its intention to commit to environmental policy by increasing the use of solar panels.

Earlier this month, HDTV News suggested that the latest 19-inch Sharp LC19SK24UW would be the perfect solution for a second room LCD screen.
